Behbehan
City in southwestern Iran with 150,000 inhabitants (2003 estimate), on the foot of the Zagros Mountains and close to the Marun River. It lies in the Khuzestan Province, about 100 km north of the Persian Gulf.
Most of the economy today is based upon the petroleum industry. Originally, it was the on an important trade route.
Behbehan is connected by road to Ahvaz 300 km northwest, Abadan 300 km west and Shiraz 300 km southeast.
