Hasdrubal

(c. 270-221 BCE) Carthaginian general.
Hasdrubal was the son-in-law of Hamilcar, and the brother-in-law of Hannibal, functioning as the commander in chief in Spain from 228 to 221.
His territorial advances came mainly through diplomacy, and he founded a new capital, New Carthage (Cartagena, Spain). He negotiated an agreement regarding territorial borders with Rome, the Carthaginian border in the north being fixed at the Ebro River.
Hasdrubal was killed in a quarrel.
