Ramses 7
Other spellings: Rameses, Ramesses

King of Ancient Egypt (1136- 1129 BCE), the 6th ruler of the 20th Dynasty. His name was not Ramses. This was a name/title he took when assuming power.
The 20 year old power balance of Egypt, in which the high priest of Amon at Karnak controlled large lands and had great influence over collected taxes, continued even during Ramses 7's reign. His reign is especially known for a period during which grain prices tripled in cost.
He had his tomb built in the Valley of the Kings near Thebes, where he also was buried. He was succeeded by Ramses 8, although some chronicles state that Ramses 8 ruled before Ramses 7.
