Shayla

Head scarf used by many Muslim women, generally intended to cover the hair. The shayla is largely similar to the hijab but distinguished by its decorative arrangement around the neck and over the shoulders.
The shayla is sometimes stated to be a form of hijab or a variation over it. This is not correct, the shayla has a much longer history than the hijab, which only dates back to the 1970's. The shayla originates in the Arabian part of the Persian Gulf region, where it is combined with the jilbab to form a complete dress from head to toe.
