Views from the top of the Menkaure

These two photos date back to 1994. Then the pyramid of Menkaure was under next to no control, and one of the local tourist guides guided me up a safe route to the top. And yes, it was fabulous! Now, you cannot do this anymore.

Queens' Pyramids, Giza, Egypt

Menkaure' pyramid had 3 queen pyramids, and all evidence suggests that they all came into use. In the burial chamber in the middle one, the body of a young woman was found. Note that the two to the right are step pyramids, the one to the left (east) is built as a true pyramid.

On this photo you can easily make out the mortuary temple and the causeway. From up above it looks nice, but down on the ground there are little but crude rocks.
