When you visit Egypt, and where are two issues not to be taken lightly. As Westerners see it, the tourist season of Egypt is short, and belongs to the winter months. When heading for southern Egypt, December and January is by far the best. The further north you get, the longer the season, but even Cairo escapes the worst heat only in the period from October to April. Early months of 1997 saw temperatures in Cairo that actually made the city a bit too freezy for most (houses are not as good escape here as in Scandinavia f.x.). When getting out at the coast, summer season is best if staying at the beach and swimming is of high priority. Red Sea Coast resorts like Hurghada has the most pleasant climate during spring and fall.
Measures to escape heat in Egypt are important, drinking enough water, staying indoors at midday, wearing a hat are all part of responsible travelling.
