GHAT:
Old town

Ghat, Libya

Ghat, Libya

Ghat, Libya

Locals don't live in the old town anymore, the last person moved out of here in 1991. Immigrants from Niger have, however, taken over some of the vacant houses.
Walking through Ghat's old town, there are details telling that it has links with oases further south as much as oases of the northern part of Sahara. The main attraction is the central mosque, one of few buildings in white colour.

Admission into the medina costs 3LD, camera permit 5LD and video permit 10LD.
