SIRTE:
The next capital?

There are plans of making Sirt into the de facto capital of Libya. There are two reasons for this. First, Sirt is more or less in between Tripolitania and Cyrenaica, and Cyrenaice is a region that has shown plenty of examples of independence towards the government of Tripoli. Next, this would involve a move of people from the crowded Tripoli region.
Sirte is in itself rather modest, but the promenade is nice enough, and the market is worth exploring too.
