Finding the real suuq

A tiny suuq in Agadir

Agadir does not have the kinds of suuqs that many travellers to Morocco fall in love with, colourful and crowded markets where all kinds of stuff can be found.
If you ask around and search a bit Agadir has a few exceptions, the top photo shows what could be the country's smallest suuq. There are no more than 10-15 small shops here in the suuq of Talborjt, but together they cover all basic needs from mint tea to roses in all colours. And the quality is excellent.
But every Thursday there is a suuq slightly out of town, providing for the needs of locals only. This makes it genuine and interesting. In many cases, local products here are of better quality than what you find in tourist stalls.
There is however one thing to look out for if you are fresh to Moroccan business culture: any guide you take with you will receive healthy commission on every product you buy. And it is from the money you pay too much, that he makes his best profit!
