Sevilla:
The hot capital

Sevilla, Spain

Sevilla was under Muslim control from 712 till 1248. During much of this time it was the seat of the Muslim rulers, which also reflects on the high standard on the most important buildings that have survived into modern times.
There are 3 sites of Moorish origin that are very much worth visiting in Sevilla. First and foremost are the Giralda, originally a minaret and the Alcazar, originally much, much larger and used to be the seat of the ruler.
Sevilla is a city of great interest for more reasons than its Muslim past. It is however a place which is best visited outside summer: it gets dangerously hot here between April and October.
Sevilla is a city with a very attractive nightlife. The centre has a large number of small eateries and bars with plenty of ambience, and which stay open long.
