FETHIYE
Large enough, small enough

Fethiye, Turkey

Fethiye, Turkey

Fethiye is a modern continuation of Telmessos, an ancient Lycian town. Around Fethiye, and especially in the hills above, there are numerous remains of that time, with Amyntas Tomb as the finest of its kind anywhere.
Modern Fethiye is a very attractive place, the largest coast town this side of Antalya. Looking down on the town, a spread of red slanting roofs stretch wide out. While its economy is trade, industries and services, it still manages to allow quite a bit of tourism to go on. The region is simply too beautiful not to.
Fethiye was renamed in the 1930's, honouring war hero Fethi Bey.
